The Victorian School of Forestry (VSF) opened in 1910 on the site of the old Creswick hospital.
The hospital was built in 1863 during the gold rush and sat in prominent position overlooking the township. VSF was affectionally known as the “school on the hill”.
The outbuildings and accommodation blocks evolved over time but by the late 1950s, with larger student intakes, it was time to make some significant upgrades.
The old dormitory was demolished in June 1959 and a modern 40 room block commenced.
